Welcome
to Grounded
Futures

I’m Amy Jarman, a registered social worker and reflective practitioner with over a decade of experience in adoption, fostering, kinship care, and children’s social care.

My work has always centred on walking alongside children, families, and carers during moments that are often tender, complex, and deeply significant. Those experiences have shaped not only my professional practice, but also the way I hold space for people: with clarity, steadiness, and a genuine respect for the journey they’re on.

Since starting my social work journey in 2010, I’ve worked across Permanency, Special Guardianship, Kinship assessments, and therapeutic support. I’ve completed detailed Viability and Special Guardianship assessments, written Child Permanence Reports, contributed to Fostering and Kinship panels, and supported children in care through major transitions — including the move into their adoptive homes and long term foster homes. Alongside this, I’ve led support groups, rebranded services, and mentored newly qualified social workers, all of which have strengthened my belief in thoughtful, ethical, reflective practice.

At the heart of everything I do is a commitment to helping people feel seen and heard, supported, and grounded as they navigate life-changing decisions and experiences.

Guided Reflection Rooted in Real‑World Practice

Over the years, I’ve learned that people need space — space to think, to feel, to ask questions, and to explore their readiness without judgement. That understanding is what led me to create Grounded Futures.

My role isn’t to assess you. It’s to walk alongside you, offering a calm, steady space where you can reflect honestly on your motivations, your strengths, your worries, and your hopes for the future.

My approach is child‑centred, trauma‑informed, and grounded in real‑world experience. I bring professional insight, but also warmth and humanity. When people feel safe and supported, they make clearer, more confident decisions — and that’s what I aim to nurture in every session.

Today, I work with individuals and couples preparing to adopt or foster, supporting them to deepen their understanding, build emotional resilience, and move forward with clarity and confidence. I also continue to work within a Local Authority, completing assessments of Kinship Carers — work that keeps me closely connected to the lived experiences of children, families, and the wider care network.
